Identity Development is series of Guest Lectures that fuse elements of problem solving and life skills with an introduction to the Design Practice.  Particular emphasis is placed on the practitioner, their tutelage, their place in the practice (where s/he can practise and in what ways), the attitudes and values of the practice, as well as the practitioner's interactions of other peripheral members of the practice.

Our third lecture was presented by Thembalethu Msibi on Resourceful Creative Ideas.  She explained that ideas are plentiful; but that we need to aspire to imaginative and inventive ideas: ideas that stand out and are practical.

Thembalethu shared some designs from Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity with the learners.

In her lecturer, Thembalethu showed that it was the simplest ideas that made a large impact.  She emphasised that it was important that students of the creative industries always stay inspired and motivated to create.  In order to do this she encouraged that learners: read often, and read varied materials to keep their minds open to possibilities of the imagination.

*Thembalethu Msibi, a graduate of AAA School of Advertising is a Copywriter with Jupiter Drawing Room, and was previously with Ogilvy South Africa.
