NEMISA starts its performance cycle for 2011/12 with new vigour premised on its strategic plan for 2011/2014. The thrusts of the new strategic plan places NEMISA at the centre of multimedia and ICT solution for strengthening of our training and development trajectory while also increasing our involvement in Local Content Hub development.

We have just celebrated NEMISA’s 10 years of existence, through which time NEMISA has made strides in the transformation of the electronic media and broadcast sector by targeting skills development for youth from disadvantaged, poor areas as well as rural areas which are the risk of losing out on the benefits of the ICT revolution. NEMISA is proud of its contribution to the advancement of these youth by equipping them with skills and values that empower them to be productive and gainfully employed within multimedia and ICT sector.

NEMISA is planning to be a provider of choice in the training and development of skills in the ICT sector, with particular focus on broadcasting and electronic media as contained in our strategy plan for 2011-2014. We plan to develop the foundational aspects of the new NEMISA in this current financial year by strengthening the quality of training programmes that we offer as well as ensure that we fulfil in a much more comprehensive manner the platform for delivery of programmes straddling entry level skills, intermediary as well as skills at Further education and Higher education levels. We shall consolidate our internal capacity to deliver these as well as leverage on strategic partnerships that are being strengthened as well as new ones that are being initiated nationally and internationally with institutions within this sector.

NEMISA will also consolidate our partnerships with partners in especially the poor and rural provinces to expand our footprint thus giving youth from these areas equitable access to skills within easy reach. We shall partner with local radio stations to strengthen their capacity in terms of the range of skills required for them to run their stations on a sustainable level while leveraging their facilities to train quality programmes for stakeholders within those geographical areas.

We have started a process of carefully planning the resource requirements of carrying through the NEMISA strategy to fruition. We shall develop detailed plans for creating the necessary organisational structure that is well positioned to effectively carry out the new mandate in the most cost effective manner possible. We shall look into the appropriate Human Capital investments that are required, the appropriate Capital Infrastructure investments including an appropriate campus to promote an environment for optimal learning, the IT infrastructure that gives our graduates access to the latest technology entering the market as well as the appropriate IT infrastructure to support entity performance. The glue that will hold everything together will be the development and maintenance of an appropriate organisational culture that optimises and unleashes talent. Appropriate governance and management systems will ensure that NEMISA will increase its rate of productivity to ensure that we do more with minimum cost.
