Introduction
In today’s technological world, if you are not computer literate you are severely limited in terms of job prospects. Students who are studying at Universities of Technology, Colleges or Universities, are all expected to be computer literate. For this reason we have put together courses that aim to provide computer literacy to individuals who have completed Matric and are interested in improving their chances of being employed by becoming computer literate.
Our courses
We have structured our courses in such a way that students can either do Basic Computer Literacy or they can add a new dimension to their skills in the form of additional modules in Intermediate or advanced Computer Studies, Basic Radio Production, Desktop Publishing and Digital Photography Manipulation. Each module is offered separately so that students can decide which ones they want to take. These courses are offered on a flexi-time basis where students come into the college as and when they are available and work through the course notes at their own pace. A facilitator is available at all times to assist students.
Certification
We have recently joined forces with Microsoft and are now an accredited Microsoft IT Academy. All our computer literacy courses are presented in conjunction with Microsoft and on completion students will receive a NEMISA attendance certificate, but will also have the opportunity to write the Microsoft examination to become Microsoft certified.
Career Opportunities
With these qualifications you could either become self employed, or seek clerical or administrative positions, if you chose to do the DTP or Digital Photography Manipulation course you could begin designing graphics on a freelance basis, or work as a junior DTP operator in a printing company.
